Easter Fun

We had a great time this Easter Season! We spent time together on our Salzburg trip and got home to enjoy Easter festivities the week before Easter Sunday. We spent time dying eggs with the kids. This year was a lot of fun because Chris pulled out glitter, pom poms, googly eyes, and and glitter glue. Each egg was a masterpiece!

I love Easter Markets, with all the beautiful hand-painted eggs. This picture perfectly expresses how I feel at Easter Markets with mass quantities of breakable eggs with four children.

We went to the Easter Markets at Freyung and Am Hof on a beautiful sunny (crowded) Saturday. There were delicious treats, fun wooden toys, and a nice craft to paint styrofoam Easter egg decorations.

Chris bought the kids some drinks at the store. Marion and James were so sweet, sharing their drink and holding hands as we walked to the park.

There was a bike festival at the Rathaus too, so we stopped by the check it out. It was really fun to watch the guys jumping and flipping on their bikes.

After the markets, we relaxed in the Volksgarten while the kids explored and James built a beautiful fairy garden, complete with Easter Egg crafts. When the day was ending, we walked to bus stop where the kids spent time climbing on the statue there. I always feel like maybe I should stop them, but they love this statue! He just looks like he wants friends to come sit by him.

On Easter Sunday, we set up an Easter Egg Hunt in the church yard for all the kids. We started out just setting up a hunt for our own kids, but the Easter Bunny may have gotten carried away in the candy section, so we decided to share with all our friends. It was so wonderful to spend Easter Sunday with so many great friends here in Vienna, and even better to help Baby EV on her first Easter Egg Hunt. She was so excited to try out her first lollypop.

Our favorite part of Easter this year was every night we read in the scriptures about the different names of Jesus Christ – Messiah, Redeemer, Creator, Light of the World, the Good Shepherd, and the Prince of Peace. We learned a new song about Jesus and His many names that we sang together after reading. It was a peaceful time together as a family. I hope we can find ways to continue to study about our Savior that are as meaningful as those few days before Easter. I love my Savior and am grateful for Him and this beautiful Easter season that reminds me of all He has done for me.
