More Ice Skating!

The ice skating at the Rathaus is winding down for the season. The weather has started to feel more like spring, and this is our last week of ice skating this year. The kids have really enjoyed our ice skating afternoons and we are a little sad to see them come to an end. We have been trying to get out ice skating on all the days when it isn’t raining before we hang up our ice skates for the season.

We have really enjoyed going to the ice skating rink after lunch the last couple of weeks. There are very few people on the ice at that time so the kids get their pick of the penguins to skate with.

Marion is our really dedicated ice skater. She never wants to leave the ice. The boys are always the ones who determine when we leave. James gets tired and Oliver gets hungry. Every time.

James and I skate together. It is nice because he falls less and I have an excuse to hold onto a penguin so that I don’t fall. When I try to get him to skate on his own he just flops around on the ice. Maybe next year he will try skating for real.

He really loves the penguins.

This was one of those moments where the kids love each other. They are so sweet sometimes.

When the kids are off skating and I get to enjoy the view of the Rathaus and the early spring weather, I feel so incredibly blessed to live here. I hope my kids will realize what an amazing life they have some day.

We also love to eat at the booths around the ice skating rink. There are some really yummy desserts and the kids have enjoyed getting to try out some tasty treats once in awhile when we finish skating. The last time we walked around the grounds after skating we could see the gardeners digging in the flower beds around the tulips that are just starting to grow. We will miss you ice skating, but we are so excited that spring is coming!
