Legoland Florida!

In October we headed to the USA for a long vacation. Chris works in Florida every fall, so we stopped there for a couple weeks to enjoy the warm weather. We were so excited to visit Legoland for “Brick or Treat”. The kids wore their Halloween costumes and we enjoyed a really beautiful day at Legoland, complete with trick or treating.

Harry Potter was greeted several times throughout the day by grownups and kids alike! Elora was SUPER excited to be a witch this year. Marion was an octopus several years ago and decided she wanted to be one again, so I sewed her a new octopus shirt and paired it with a fluffy skirt and her favorite octopus hat. James was Captain Jano – his imaginary pirate friend. Who wears a red cape.

We started off our trip on the Merry Go Round. It is always fun to ride lego horses. This year the biggest kids are finally excited about roller coasters, so the day started off slow for them with some rides the little kids wanted to go on. I am sad that our years of all small children are coming to an end, and am so glad that they all still loved the park.

Our favorite part of Legoland is meeting the characters the kids love and enjoying all the really great lego sculptures around the park. Marion especially was so excited by all the sculptures this year. James still loves the Duplo grandpa that was his favorite toy for the first three years of his life, and the kids were super excited to meet Emmett and Wildstyle from the Lego Movie! We got to see a short Lego Movie part 2 film which the kids thought was pretty amazing.

This was the first time all the kids could ride this ride! James was just barely old enough and he was so excited to join the big kids on a horse ride.

We did a little bit of splitting up throughout the day to make sure that everyone could ride the rides they were excited about. This turned out to be a problem when I was alone with the two younger kids at the jungle jeep ride, because Marion and James are not tall enough to ride alone! A nice lady in line agreed to ride with Marion, and Marion luckily decided this was okay with her. I was so grateful to “our new friend” who made it possible for both my kids to go on the ride.

We went to see the pirate show, and Elora got picked to help Captain Miranda save the day!!! She got to sit right by the stage and help out at the very end. She was so proud of herself, but a little embarrassed by all the attention. After the show there was a chance to meet the crew, but the kids said they didn’t want to and headed to a lego building station. As James watched other kids meet the Lego soldier, he decided he really wanted to meet him too, but we were told that no one else could get in line to meet the crew. James was so sad. Then Captain Miranda walked by and saw us. She said, “It’s Elora! She saved the day!” And brought us over to take pictures. James was happy to join in. Another awesome moment at Legoland, and thanks to the amazing Captain Miranda who made it possible for James to meet the Lego soldier.

Elora was super brave this trip and went on all the roller coasters with Oliver. She looks terrified in every picture, but told us she loves the fast rides now! James and Marion has some good times shopping while waiting for the big kids, as well as hanging out in the stocks.

In the late afternoon, the kids got to go “Brick or Treating” We put on Elora’s green eye make up (she insisted she wanted green makeup to be a witch this year), and headed over to go trick or treating at the booths in the park. The kids got a lot of candy, some yummy drinks, and we took lots of pictures of the fun Halloween props set up. This is such a fun time to go to Legoland.

There was also a fun costume parade for the kids. We didn’t get many good pictures, but Elora took James on stage for the parade and Oliver was excited to pretend to be Harry Potter as he walked across the stage. Marion enjoyed watching with mom and dad.

To finish out the day we went to miniland and checked out all the awesome Star Wars lego displays, and then watched the evening fireworks. Our phones had died by that point, so no pictures, but it was super cool to watch the fireworks. They gave out special glasses that made the fireworks look like legos were raining out of them. We had such a great day together. This was our one amusement park we picked for our trip, and I am glad it was. All the kids had a great time and the weather was fantastic, with short wait times at all the rides. A great way to start our Florida adventure!
