Floridsdorfer Wasserpark

Today we went to a new park – the Floridsdorfer Wasserpark. It is a beautiful park near the Donau with lots of water, lots of beautiful water birds, benches to sit and relax everywhere, and a really cool playground.

We had never been there before, so we got off the train at the Neue Donau stop which looked really close to it on the map. After a bit of a walk under the train bridge and a stop to enjoy some wild blackberries, we found the park. The kids loved all the birds. We found a nice spot right by the water with some swans. Oliver thought the baby swans were ugly and now understood why the story is called, “The Ugly Duckling.”

It turns out that we came in on the opposite side of the park from where the playground is located, so we walked quite a ways before we found the playground. It really was so relaxing and the kids had so much fun enjoying the main part of the park, that we were in no hurry. Marion was so excited by all the birds and the new white feather she found, that she didn’t want to go to the playground! She asked me to take her picture, because “Someday we won’t live here and I will want to remember!”

I should have taken way more pictures of the playground equipment. It was so cool. There were several tree house type areas, one actually built around a tree, and others like this one that were just suspended in the air. My kids loved it. There was a lot of different equipment to explore, something for kids of all ages!

We had several friends join us and the kids played happily for a few hours! They loved the rope climbing structure because it looks kind of like the Eiffel Tower, so they played “Eiffel Tower Tours” for a long time.

We also enjoyed hanging out with our favorite baby friend (and her mom too!) This is a perfect park for a relaxing day in a natural area. Plenty of birds, bridges, water, trees, sticks, and a playground. All my kids favorite things! We will definitely be back.
