Movie Night!

I took the kids to see Zootopia 3D at the Haydn English cinema. The kids were so excited to find out that there are movie theaters here with movies in English.

Apparently there are age restrictions that are supposed to be strictly enforced here in Vienna. They asked me how old the kids were and when I told them, they let me know the movie was for ages 6 and up. I told them I thought the kids would behave fine since I have taken them to movies before. The lady at the counter said it didn’t matter, there are just rules about the ages. She looked around for a manager, but appeared to give up and said, “Go ahead and try it, just come back if there is a problem.” Incidentally, I’m pretty sure every group in the theater had a child under six in it. I’m just glad she let us in!

Movies aren’t complete without lots of popcorn and peanut M&Ms. The kids thought the movie was a little bit scary (especially in 3D) and kids on all sides of me visibly jumped at one part, but for the most part it was super fun and the kids all said they loved it.

Cool parts about the theater – you can reserve tickets online without paying – you just need to come to the theater a half hour early to claim your tickets. All the seats in the theater are good seats, but it was nice to be able to reserve seats all together for our big group.

Oddities about the theater – you can pay for your ticket with your bank card, but not your snacks. You have to have cash on hand for the food.

The kids are already asking when we can go again! Next time I’ll be careful to check the age limits.
