Ice Dreams

The kids have a point jar at home that they get to add a point to when they are being extra helpful, do chores with a good attitude or without being asked, work hard on their school work, etc. When the jar is full they get a great prize. Today was our first time filling the jar and we went out to eat ice cream and waffles for lunch as a reward for filling the jar.

Ice Dreams is a cute cafe near our apartment that we walk by very often. They have big posters outside with pictures of their ice cream waffles and every time the kids walk past they stop and talk about which waffle they want to eat.

Seriously, doesn’t this look amazing!?

The staff was super friendly, endured kids changing their minds and making special orders and requests, and brought us lots of extra napkins, spoons, pitchers of water, and were over all very helpful and patient. The kids were bubbling over with excitement, telling all the staff about their point jar and how they had earned a special treat.

This was Marion’s first choice, although she ended up choosing dark chocolate. I ordered the strawberry figuring I would trade with her if she changed her mind.

In the end, everyone tried everyone’s. We had way too much food, it was all super yummy, and I never need to eat that much sugar for lunch again!

The waffles were different than American waffles – they were dense and sweet. It was really good with ice cream and whipped cream.

James just ate his vegan dark cherry ice cream and left the waffle.

Marion enjoyed eating the food James left. The kids were so excited to finally try the waffles at Ice Dreams. They are already working on filling the point jar again so they can return to Ice Dreams to try something new!
