Kane County Fair

We love the Kane County Fair. We took the kids over earlier in the day to see the exhibits and try out the crafts. James played with balloons the whole time.
I tried my best to make a couple balloon animals. My favorite is the green snake. We had a lot of fun with him.
Elora won a sweepstakes for her cheddar bacon bread. Great job, Elora!
Oliver won a ribbon for his cookies!
James liked looking at all the animals, especially the chickens.
Elora even got to hold one of the bunnies. That was a super exciting moment for her.
There was a zipline set up this year. We tried to talk the kids into going, but they didn’t want to so we just watched some of the other kids try it out.
We went home so the kids could take naps before the rodeo. Here is a sweet little face if I have ever seen one.
James doesn’t like to nap. He hung out on his bike with his bottle and no pants instead.
Chris had a new camera and lens he wanted to try out so he took some pretty amazing pictures at the rodeo.
We love the sheep riding. I can’t believe so many parents get their kids to do this. Our kids have NO interest in trying to ride sheep!
This little girl rode her sheep until it stopped running! I have never seen a kid that didn’t fall off before.
We can’t believe how little some of the riders are. This little girl was amazing on her horse.
We got lined up for the chicken chase. The kids were so excited. Elora practiced the whole week before the rodeo so she could catch a chicken.
And she was off! And I didn’t see her at all the rest of the time until it was over and…
She actually caught a chicken!!!! I couldn’t believe it. We had to go home and lock the chicken in the doghouse until the next morning when we had to hurry and make a chicken coop out of an old shed and some gridwall. The chicken is lovingly called Rosemary. A couple people dumped their chickens instead of taking them home, so for the next two weeks we kept hearing a rooster crowing around the rodeo grounds until Elora and Chris finally caught him and brought him home too. His name is Pecky. For the obvious reason.
We love this event. Someone stands on a barrel and a rider has to ride to the barrel, the person jumps onto the horse and they ride back to the beginning. It makes for some funny pictures when the people are trying to jump onto moving horses.

James found a cute little girlfriend at the rodeo. They stood together to watch quite a few events.

We had some tuckered out little kids that night! It was a fun day, and the kids are already planning for next year what they want to enter. I am even working on some sewing to enter!
