Hiking in Zion With the Kids

After a busy day in St. George a while back we stopped to hike in Zion on the way home. Every time I drive through I want to just stop and hike all day, but we are usually on the way somewhere. This time I was really ready to get out of the car and have a break and the weather was really nice. James was super excited to get out of the car and walk around.
Elora thought the roots on this tree were really neat.
Marion was a little scared of the spooky tunnel. It was REALLY dark in there. I had never been through this tunnel before. I can’t believe after all these years we still find places to hike that I have never been.
I love seeing the kids silhouettes in the tunnel opening. This pic of Oliver with his walking stick is one of my favorites.
My cuties posing for a picture. Marion is, of course, smiling like an octopus.
The kids found some old snow and James was super excited about it! I am not sure why, but he did not want to leave the snow, he just wanted to keep playing in it.
My mountain goats roaming around the beautiful rocks. These two love to hike in Zion.
They also love to be goobers while posing for pictures.
Marion’s octopus face really cracks me up, and Oliver looks so cute in his hat!
There were some nice puddles that the kids enjoyed throwing rocks in and splashing with sticks. Nice cold water, just where I want to play in the winter time!
This little guy loves to climb all over the place. Sometimes we have to stop his climbing, he likes to go up and doesn’t always realize it is scarier on the way down!
He liked this little “island” and kept sliding down the rocks to get to it. I seriously thought he was going to fall in the water, luckily he didn’t!
Four cute kids on a rock!
Can you tell which kids like to pose for photos?
My happy, jumping boy. It is so fun to take these kids hiking. They love to explore and run around, it always makes me smile.
Marion kept finding rocks to throw in the water. She would run back to the puddles to see if she could makes big splashes and was so sad when we started back toward the car and left the puddles!
The sun was setting as we got back to the car. The kids had some treasures in their hands and for some reason that made them pose like this… I am so glad we went hiking even for a little while. The kids love it in Zion – I love it in Zion. Whenever we are there we have a great time.
