Elora’s Girl Scout Investiture

Elora joined Girl Scouts this year. My mom is the leader and I am the assistant. It has been fun to be in Girl Scouts again. I was a scout for 11 years; my mom was my leader for 10 of those years. It is a great organization and it has been a really fun experience for Elora. We had our Investiture last month to welcome the girls to the troop and give them the awards they have earned.
Here are our wonderful girls – Sarah, Elora, Madi, and Kaylee.
All the girls got to help with the Investiture ceremony. Elora welcomed everyone. She was a little nervous, so we gave her a card to read and that helped. She did a great job.
To present the Girl Scout Law to the parents, we had a flower ceremony. Each flower has a portion of the law written on a tag and the girls got to come up and share that part of the law before placing their flower in the vase.
I wanted to make the day a special one for the girls, so I actually checked out pinterest and other sites on the internet for ideas on how to decorate. Trust me, this a big deal for me! I appreciate my friend Kristy who helped me set up.
My sweet kids all helped me paint the brownie blocks. We had a great time and Elora was so excited about them. Here is my little scout. She has already earned two patches and is working on two more right now!
Elora and her Daddy. We are so proud of Elora. She loves scouting and has worked very hard the last couple weeks selling Girl Scout cookies. I have been amazed at how confident she is when working with the scouts. She is sometimes shy, but has really shone while selling cookies and talking with people in our community about Girl Scouts. Great job Elora!
