Christmas Eve

We celebrated Christmas in Brian Head this year. The kids love to go to the apartment. We got a real tree from one of our neighbors which was perfect because we had already set up our artificial tree at home. Here are some excited kids on the way to Brian Head!

Marion was being an octopus. As usual.

We didn’t have extra ornaments, so we decided to make salt dough ornaments. The kids really liked rolling out the dough. It took a little convincing to get the kids to stop eating the dough (ew!) because it really looks like cookie dough.

We went for a sleigh ride with Santa. The kids were so excited! Santa was very friendly and we got to sing Christmas carols with him as we went for a ride through Brian Head.

Luckily there were lots of warm blankets.

I think Elora may have been a little cold still.

Oliver and Daddy enjoyed snuggling up to keep warm on our ride. I wish it was longer – it was cold, but we enjoyed being together and singing songs.

The horses were beautiful so I wanted a picture of them. James did not seem real impressed with the whole thing.

We went back to the apartment to paint our ornaments.

We even had some really pretty glitter pain that the kids enjoyed putting on the ornaments.

Elora put on the first ornament and said, “Ouch! It’s pokey!” We have never had a real tree before and it is a little sharper than our artificial one…

After decorating the tree we took some Christmas goodies around to the neighbors we could find in the apartment complex. The kids were really happy to share. They are so sweet. We even met a few people who will be living in Brian Head all winter. It is nice to know we will have some regular neighbors!

Time for a Christmas Eve present!

Elora was SO excited about her new pink jammies.

Marion was so happy about her new elephant jammies that she stripped down right then to put them on. She loves elephants.

James’ jammies have kitties on the feet and he likes to meow at them. Oliver was not really excited to get jammies instead of toys, but he came up to me and said, “It is better to get jammies than to get no presents. I love you mommy!” He thanked me a lot over the next few days for his new jammies, so I guess he liked them even though they weren’t legos.

While putting the kids to bed, I realized I had forgotten to pack most of the presents (oops!) so I made the long drive back to Glendale to get all the gifts and then put them all under the tree and got the stockings all laid out. It ended up being a late night with the extra two hours of driving, but it was so worth it the next morning! I love Christmas, and it was great to celebrate up at Brian Head. We really had a wonderful Christmas Eve Day together as a family.
