Pioneer Day

Here is another favorite Utah holiday – Pioneer Day! Which celebrates the date that the first settlers came to Salt Lake City.

Elora and Oliver were both really excited to be in the parade this year. They were supposed to wear either pioneer clothing or western wear. We are a little short on both of those, to be honest, but Elora pulled together this little outfit. She was a little nervous in the end to actually sit on a float, but decided that she would like to be fishing on the float. It gave her something to look at besides the crown watching the parade…

Oliver and his little buddies got to throw candy to all of them. I love how they all look like they have no idea why they are sitting in the back of a car…

Elora making her shy face when we cheered for her float as she passed.

This is our neighbor Collin, and I LOVE his float that he made.

Marion was a little bit sick that day, but not too sick to pick up candy! She liked that part of the parade.

Here was our favorite parade entry though – our friend Gary on his stick horse! Ha! I love small town parades.

We played at the park after the parade while the dinner was being prepared. Oliver was having a GREAT time on the swing.

And Marion loves Oliver’s hat! Isn’t she cute? The best part is her Halloween shirt – one of her favorites because it has a kitty on it. She would wear in every day if we let her…

We enjoyed playing with the kids and a great dutch oven potato dinner. Unfortunately with a sick little one, we left before the evening program, which did not start until after bedtime! We are still glad we could come celebrate with our town on this special day.
