Trip to Grandma’s House

The last time we came to California, it was around Easter. I didn’t have a camera and borrrowed my mom’s camera to take pictures, but forgot to get the pics from her… so a few months late, here are some cute pics of the kids on our Spring Break trip to CA.

We went to the Wild Animal Park, which is right near my mom and dad’s house, and the kids loved this big bat to pose with. Elora is especially fond of bats.

Oliver loved the gorillas. Every time we go to a zoo, the kids look at the map and decide what animals they want to see. Oliver really wanted to see the Cheetahs, but they were hiding. Luckily the lions were out, but he was still disappointed about the cheetahs. Then he saw the picture of gorillas on the map, and decided he really wanted to see them. We were not disappointed! There were three gorillas out to see, and Oliver was excited to measure up next to this display to see how big gorillas really are.

We also dyed Easter Eggs at my parents house. The kids have only done this once before, but they were SO excited. I was actually surprised at how much Oliver really enjoyed it. Made me wish we all liked hard boiled eggs more so I could have made more eggs for them to dye…

Elora was especially proud to show off her finished fancy eggs.

We had a little Easter Egg Hunt in the backyard for the kids. To keep it fair, we went back to the method my dad used when we were kids: color-coded eggs. Green and yellow for Oliver, pink and orange for Elora, blue for Drake, and purple for Marion.

They loved running around the backyard and finding all their hidden eggs.

Marion got the hang of egg hunting pretty quick, and didn’t even want to stop to see what was inside.

She also enjoyed helping Drake find his eggs – or maybe she was trying to steal his eggs… It was a fun activity for all the kids. Thanks mom and dad for a fun visit!
