Oliver’s Birthday Party!

For Oliver’s birthday we just had some friends come over for dinner. That way it feels like a party, but with a smaller crowd of children and our friends are there too…

Oliver has been looking forward to his birthday for MONTHS! Because he knows that age 4 is when he is old enough to play teeball. As soon as he turned four he was already announcing he could play teeball now. I had to explain that we need to wait for the snow to melt before teeball season starts. Here he is blowing our his candles!

And of course, directly after blowing out the candles, he started eating the candy hearts he has been saving for his cake. He had a little bag of them he saved from Valentine’s Day (his actual birthday) and he would show it to me every couple days and say, “These are for my birthday cake at my party!!!”

We played some fun games – here are the kids playing Duck Duck Goose. Oliver loves this game. He finally has started calling it by the proper name. He used to call it “Duck Duck Chase!” Which I guess makes more sense.

And on to musical chairs. Oliver wasn’t really willing to fight for a chair, so he got out really quick and went to help Chris pick out music. We ended up with “The Phantom of the Opera”. Interesting choice for musical chairs.

I need to say that I am so happy the Cox kids were there. Our kids adore their older children, and it is nice to have older kids who are so willing and even happy to play little kid games all evening. It really helped having them there. Here is Oliver with his buddy Clay.

And of course, the swords and crossbows did come out at one point in the evening. It wouldn’t be a Williams’ party without them…

Oliver got laser tag for his birthday and he has been happily shooting us all ever since.

He also got an Indiana Jones hat. He doesn’t actually know who Indiana Jones is, but he loves hats and we thought he would look cute. He calls it his “treasure hunting hat”.

See! He is adorable.

Oliver got some new floor puzzles. This dinosaur one is a favorite, but more especially because it came with a CD full of great songs, like “I want to be a paleontologist” and “What Color Were the Dinosaurs?” We have listened to it quite frequently. In fact, I am pretty sure I can sing you all the songs already…

I can’t believe Oliver is already four. He is such a sweet, funny kid to have around and he definitely keeps us ALL on our toes and keeps our lives full of music.
