Christmas Eve

O
n Christmas Eve we invited over some neighbors, and made our favorite Nepali food – momo. It was wonderful to spend time with some of our favorite folks in town. The kids loved having Burdell, Verla, and Ila Mae over – especially since our families are far away and we did not get to see them this Christmas.
Our friends were a great work crew, they even brought their own aprons. And we made WAY more momo than we could possibly eat. We even got Elora to try one, although she is still unsure about the unusual spices. One of these days she will figure out how good momo is!

The kids got to open one present on Christmas Eve. Elora and Oliver were super excited. And Marion who spent the entire month of December trying to open presents, was no longer interested now that we were letting her open one…

The kids got new Christmas jammies and Perry the Platypus t-shirts – which were a huge hit.

After all the excitement from Oliver and Elora was over, Marion finally got around to opening her jammies. You can see she was not that excited… but Elora was very excited on her behalf.

The kids promptly changed into their new shirts, and began conversing about how awesome Perry is. Elora was getting really into it. It is so funny to see them get this excited about chaaracters from a tv show…

Chris bought me these awesome neck covers to wear while skiing – because my neck is always cold! He decided to wear it bandit style while watching a few Christmas videos with the kids before bed.

I love how the kids are both wearing their t-shirts over their jammies! They are so cute – and they both love new clothes, so they were actually really excited about their new jammies too. When we took them up to bed we told them to go right to sleep because Santa would only come if they were sleeping. Oliver said, “Would Santa fly right past our house?!?!” to which I replied, “Yes, if you are still awake.” Then he told me, “I will just watch at the window with my eyes closed!” I love that kid. I will say that this was the only night we have ever had in the past year where Oliver did not get out of bed AT ALL after we tucked him in. If only every night was Christmas Eve!
