Marion’s Birthday!

I saw this cute cake on pinterest and decided I would make it! It turned out pretty good I thought.
Elora was so happy to help put sprinkles on the extra cupcakes. I think she ate as many as she put on the cupcakes. Oliver got to help out too. He was excited to eat all the different colors of frosting. I tried to explain that they all taste the same, but I don’t think he believed me.
For Marion’s birthday dinner we had tacos, which were a big hit with Marion. She loves black beans and avocados. Glad she enjoyed her dinner before getting to the cake!
I love this picture. All the kids were sooooo excited to open Marion’s presents.
Marion got into the presents quicker than any other one year old I have seen. She seemed really excited by her new toys and the paper and ribbon and everything. And Elora had a GREAT time playing with ribbon.
Wow! I get to rip paper?!?!? That is Marion’s favorite activity anyway. We were having a hard time getting Oliver to leave enough paper on Marion’s presents for her to unwrap anything, but she got a small share of paper to rip.
Marion got a lot of new books from Grandma and Grandpa and she LOVES them all.
The clothes were unceremoniously dumped out of the box so Marion could play with the paper, but Elora was quite pleased to see all the cute new clothes.
Marion has to fight Oliver to get a turn riding her new little car. She had a great time once Oliver went to bed!
Elora also got a present from Grandma and Grandpa. A new sweatshirt which she says is her new favorite that she wants to wear EVERY day because it is fancy with hearts and sparkles. Grandma sure picked a winner for this little girl!
Marion loved the candle! We weren’t sure if she would know what to do with the cake, but before we had time to wonder we pushed the cake closer so Oliver and Elora could help blow out the candle and…
Before the candle was even blown out Marion grabbed a cupcake and shoved it in her mouth.
This little girl loves food.
Especially cake.
And here is the aftermath, just before Marion chucked it all over the floor. Gotta love that kid. We had a great time celebrating Marion’s birthday and we are so happy that she had a great time too. Marion is a sweet, determined, demanding little girl… She is getting to be more and more fun every day as she explores and learns about the world around her. I am constantly amazed at how much she understands and tries to do at such a young age. I guess she thinks she has to prove to everyone that anything we can do she can do! Happy birthday Marion!
