Park Day… and other stuff.

Chris has been working in Florida this week, so these pictures are in part to show him what the kids have been doing this week, but also the kids are just cute and I like to share with everyone the funny things they do and say.

Elora’s class went to the firestation last week, and her fireman hat has become a favorite item in our house among all the kids. Marion decided to wear it around the kitchen the other day while she continually tried to turn on and off the space heater… We are working on the meaning of “No” in our house. But since this particular space heater makes a wonderful beeping noise every single time you turn it on, off, or change the temperature, I can’t convince Marion it is not a toy.

Elora has this cute Hello Kitty purse (see how Elora has all the items the other kids really want to play with?). Elora, Oliver, and Marion ALL love this purse. Marion just figured out how to carry it on her shoulder and is quite pleased with herself.

On Friday we met some friends at the park. We have met twice now and like it so much I think we will continue as long as we can stand to let the kids brave the elements. It is currently beautiful weather, but when it turns cold I think we will all miss park day… On the way to the park this week Oliver insisted on marching in front of the stroller. When I asked why, I was told, “I march in front because I am the music man.” He proceeded to march, lead music with his stick, and hum 76 Trombones. I love that kid.

I wrote Elora a note so she could get off the bus at the park instead of our house. She grabbed a banana and headed directly for the tire, where she informed me that she is now as tall as me. She was quite pleased about this new found height.

Since I can’t push all the kids on the swings at once (or maybe I just don’t want to…) Oliver has figured out how to swing on his own and thinks it is quite awesome, as you can see. I also love it because then everyone is not fighting over the baby swing. Seriously. Elora still wants to have a turn in the baby swing too. I don’t really know why it is so appealing.

Another random Oliver moment. I walked out of the house yesterday and Oliver was standing on the lawn, staring up at the sky and talking. Conversing. With the sky. I asked him what he was doing and he said, “I am talking to Luna up there!!!” while pointing up at… the moon!

Marion hung out in the baby swing most of the afternoon. She just kicked back, took off a shoe, and enjoyed holding the pretty fall leaves Elora gave her. Elora was very excited to take a turn pushing the baby in the swing. She really loves taking care of her baby sister.

Here is Elora with her friend Shayne who joined us at park day. The best part is I didn’t even ask them to pose for this picture, I just happened to have my camera in my pocket when the girls hugged goodbye. So cute. We are looking forward to our next park day!

At church today Elora had a lesson about serving her family. Her class made little hearts to leave for members of the family after she had done a service for them. After church today she asked me if she could “set Oliver’s bed”. That is an Elora-ism for making the bed. I told her that would be very nice. She went and made his bed and came down saying, “Oliver, I found something pink on your bed! Come up and see it!” He ran off to see what the mysterious pink thing was, and I came up to see them on Oliver’s newly made bed, with a cute little pink heart card that Elora had made for Oliver. Elora was SO happy to do something nice for her brother. She told me that she will feed Marion breakfast tomorrow before giving Marion her heart card. Thanks to Elora’s teachers for giving such a great lesson! She really enjoys Primary and REALLY took this lesson to heart today. I am so grateful for my sweet kids.

P.S. Oliver was using Mr. Potato Head’s mouth and pretending to be Robin Hood. I am not sure why Robin Hood has a green mouth, but I love when he plays with Mr. Potato Head. He always ends up playing an awesome game of pretend with Mr. Potato Head’s parts…
