A Really Fun Day

So, I am posting still from August since we got behind somewhere and have actually had a really busy summer. I can’t believe summer is already over and we are a few weeks into school already! Where does time go? But anyway, enjoy the next couple weeks of summer blogging and then we will move into school mode for real!
Nana and Grampy came to visit us this summer, and we spent a day over in Kanab at the big swimming pool. I had never been there, and it is amazing! I am so bummed that it is far away (okay, it is not that far, but I don’t really like to drive anywhere…) Here is Elora showing us her floating skills (she is cheating with her hands on the bottom, but she was so proud of herself!)
The pool has a really big shallow section for the kids to play in, which is awesome when you are trying to keep track of three little sort of swimming kids.
There is also a big slide structure, which Oliver loved!
Cousin David came along with Nana and Grampy for their visit, and he and Elora had a great time playing together. Here they are lying in the sun to warm up. I told Oliver that he could go lay down too, but he seemed to think it was very strange to lie on the ground and wouldn’t do it.
After swimming for awhile, the kids decided to try out the slides – and they all loved it!
Note that Oliver is holding a little car. He found it on the side of the pool and played with it the whole two hours we were there! I guess I know what to bring for him the next time we come swimming!
After he first went down the slide, he jumped up and said, “I did it! I did it!”
Marion LOVED the water, I think she would have stayed and played all day. And it was great having a pool shallow enough that she could sit down and splash while we could still see the kids playing on the slide.
There was also a big water slide. Grampy and David went over to try it out and said it was really fun. My kids wouldn’t try it until it was almost time to leave…
And then they both loved it and wanted to stay and go down the slide over and over again! But the thunder clouds rolled in and the pool had to close because of the storm, so we headed home. We have had some crazy storms this summer, including one where lightning struck the front yard of a house just two streets away.
That night we had the missionaries and our friends the Cox family over for dinner. We made a new variation of the kebab with barbeque sauce in it. Still totally good. One of the missionaries is from Missouri and one is actually from Australia. Long way from home! We enjoyed getting to know them a bit better.
And we ended our day by playing with the sand table – along with Scamper, who is turning out to be a great cat for the kids because she is a good sport about being carried all over the yard. She actually seemed to enjoy napping in the sand table while the kids played!
