Easter Egg Hunt

Yes, I know when Easter was… we have been home in Utah for a month and a half now, and we are finally getting caught up with the blog and starting to settle in a little more. There is always a big Easter Egg Hunt at the local Elementary School, so we headed over the day before Easter. It was freezing!
There was a nice pancake breakfast beforehand. It was great to see old friends, but the kids got really cold and were happy to go back to the car.
The kids warmed right up when it was time to hunt for eggs. Elora was instructing Oliver very carefully and showing him where all the eggs were before it was time to start!
They were both so excited that they ran out before they were supposed to, but we took them back to the starting line to wait!
It was so fun to watch them! They were jumping up and down with excitement and totally ready for the hunt to begin! Oliver doesn’t really remember an Easter Egg hunt, but Elora explained to him all about the candy and he was so happy! Oliver loves the candy…
Everyone waiting to get started. Notice up on the rocky hills behind us. That is the hill behind the high school, and every class paints their graduation number up there. It has been a tradition for many many years. Elora saw the painted rocks and said, “Oh no! Mommy, they ruined the park! Mommy, that is so not nice, somebody painted on the mountain, that is so sad! They RUINED IT!” She was very upset! Apparently she actually listens when we tell her not to paint or color on the rocks in Zion National Park and was very distressed that someone would dare do it here…
Go Oliver Go! He was so happy to run for the eggs, and even if there were other kids trying to get the same eggs he would take them all! So I tried to gently suggest he go out farther where there were still lots of eggs, but less little kids.Oliver grabbing eggs to put in his backpack. We sort of forgot about Easter and hadn’t gotten them baskets, and also had not uncovered the box with Elora’s bag from when she was younger! But they thought using their backpacks was great.
Elora was so excited! She ran off on her own and we got far less pictures of her. She had already planned out which eggs she wanted while waiting at the edge of the grass, and she took off in search of them as soon as they said go!
Oliver lovingly zipping his backpack to hide all his eggs!
Elora got started opening hers right away and was excited to find little toys, rings, bracelets, candy, and of course, parachuting men.

Elora gave Marion an egg to hold and she really loved it. Elora was very thoughtful and picked out an egg that matched Marion’s jacket perfectly! We had a great time hunting for eggs, and have *enjoyed having tons of little toys and eggs all over the house ever since…
