Oliver’s Birthday Party!

Oliver turned 3 on February 14th, Valentine’s Day! Because Chris has fond memories of the R2-D2 cake that his mother made for him as a child, Chris volunteered me to make one for Oliver… hmmm… I am not really a great cake decorator, but I figured I would give it a try.
Here we are in process… luckily the instructions had nice pictures that were pretty easy to follow.
R2-D2! It is funny because Oliver was excited, but Elora was the one who came up and raved about it. “Wow mom, that is Awesome! Wow!” Thank you Elora, that made my day 🙂
Oliver loves to hear the happy birthday song and to blow out candles, so this was a really exciting day for him!
He wanted to help cut the cake. And then eat the frosting. I don’t know why we ever give him cake, next year I’ll make him a nice bowl of frosting with a candle on top. Did I mention it was almost painful to cut that cake after spending almost an hour frosting it?
We had all of the Williams clan over for the party, so we made some awesome fajitas for everyone to eat.
Oliver was so excited about his presents this year. He got some really big books from Uncle David which he loved.
Especially the car one that makes noise. He almost didn’t open anymore presents after that.
Uncle Dan bought him a guitar after seeing how much he loved playing with his cousin’s pink guitar. This one is a little more manly and plays three different rock songs. Oliver can already sing all of them and loves walking around playing for everyone.
Here’s the whole family. And fittingly, since it was his party, Oliver looks the best in this picture. If only the other children cooperated this well for photos.
