Elora says…

Elora has taked to sleeping on the floor behind her bedroom door at naptime. I don’t mind, at least she is asleep! But I went in the other day and couldn’t find her at first. Can you spot her?

Okay, so anyone who spends a lot of time around Elora (or even a little…) has probably noticed that she talks. A LOT. And she says the strangest things. I wish I could remember to write them all down. So here is my favorite goober picture of Elora (yes, those are underwear around her neck) and some of our favorite conversations from the past couple weeks.

On the way to the park:

There is dog poo on the grass. That’s okay, we all do that sometimes.
—————————————-Elora: Mommy, I need to go pee in the bushes.
Me: No, wait, let’s run home.
Elora: And pee in the bushes at home?

I had just finished telling Elora the story of Dumbo, and explaining that Dumbo’s mommy was in jail because she had gotten mad and frightened people. Elora then pushed Oliver, and I explained that it wasn’t nice and I wouldn’t let her hurt her brother, just like I won’t let her brother hurt her. To which she responded:

“Are you going to turn into a big elephant when you are mad?”
—————————————-

After spreading glitter on her arms, her Teddy’s hair, Grace’s hair, and every other random stranger she could find, “I made people so fancy, and that made them happy. Wasn’t that so nice of me?”
—————————————-

After getting her allowance this week:

“Mommy, I am going to help you do all the work, and I am going to be nice and share with my brother, and I am so sorry for not listening and for yelling the last time.” (?!?!? Apparently I should be giving her an allowance more often… she becomes so compliant!)
—————————————-

Elora: I am sorry for being upset earlier.
Me: Thank you for your apology.
Elora: Now you say you are sorry for being upset too.
Me: Okay, I am sorry I got upset too.
Elora: It’s okay, we all make mistakes sometimes. Now, don’t be upset ever again, okay?

I’ll work on that for you Elora.
—————————————-

Today after we had to leave a friend’s house:

“I don’t want to go home, I want to stay here FOREVER. If we go home, I won’t go to sleep EVER!”

Ha ha, she must have thought it was bedtime, even though it was only 5:00.
—————————————-

Tonight at dinner:

Elora: Is Daddy going to be home later?
Me: No, not today.
Elora: He is going to be REALLY tired then.

She thinks he doesn’t sleep unless he is home in his bed. Miss you Chris!
